Meet Kristine aka Fun Hater

Hailing from North Dakota, Kristine wasn’t always a nail girl…

It was something that she didn’t think was for her until she was introduced to Rachael through mutual friends in 2016. At the time, Rachael was still in nail school and Kristine was quite literally one of her first ‘non-friend’ clients. At the time, Kristine was working as a registered nurse in Denver and before that she was in the military. Neither occupation allowed much leeway in terms of manicure options.

After her first nail art manicure with Rachael, she was elated with not only the bright purple glitter ombre but the longevity of the service. It made her feel special, like she could be “that nail girl”. It also gave her an opportunity to express her personality when her jobs had always had specific uniform regulations. She kept on as a client and eventually started doing her own nails when the world exploded in 2020.

After working as an ICU nurse through 2020 and all that entailed, the burnout was getting very real. Doing nails gave her something that was her own while also being a creative outlet. After a few years of home manicures, she realized maybe this was something she might actually want to do. She and Rachael came up with a plan, Kristine started nail school with Rachael’s mentor at The Beauty Collective Academy and she was licensed in the summer of 2023.

Although having a great manicure might seem simple or trivial, it has always brought joy and confidence to Kristine. She is bound and determined to make nail girls (and boys and people in general) out of all of her clients during her apprenticeship at Acronychous and eventually transitioning out of nursing altogether.
